Ultrasound Guided Cortisone Injections

At Eastern Foot Care, we offer ultrasound guided anaesthetic and therapeutic injections for the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions affecting the foot and ankle. Often used to reduce pain in plantar fasciitis, where more conservative management have proven unsuccessful in up to 20% cases, ultrasonography is used for guiding anaesthetic and cortisone injections to provide significant pain relief.

Latest research evidence has shown that ultrasound guided cortisone injections are a valuable adjunct to other therapy measures as it improves the injection target of anti-inflammatory medication to reduce pain and is used to monitor soft tissue changes to minimise complications.

In some instances we are also able to offer an ankle block where the area is anaesthetised to make the injection more comfortable.
