Prolotherapy

Prolotherapy is a treatment effective at resolving chronic musculoskeletal pain.

Prolotherapy actually heals ligamentous strain using mild inflammation to trigger the healing cascade and generate new collagen.

It is effective at healing the injury rather than just symptom relief.

Most sports injuries of the lower limb can be treated with prolotherapy by stabilising the joint through returning the supportive ligaments to their tautness. This can reduce the need for external supportive braces.

Common lower limb sports injuries that respond well to prolotherapy are:

  • chronic ankle sprain
  • Metatarsalgia (pain in the bones of the foot)
  • Lisfranc joint strain
  • Achilles tendinopathy
  • heel pain
  • shin splints
  • stress fractures

Our podiatrists have undergone extensive training both in Australia and abroad to master prolotherapy techniques.
