Feet and Arthritis

Any joint in your ankles, feet and toes can be affected by arthritis. Given that this region consists of 27 bones, arthritis has many places it can affect causing joint pain, swelling and stiffness. Arthritis in the feet can make standing and walking painful. You may find your feet and/or toes change shape, making it harder to fit shoes.

Depending on the severity of the condition, our podiatrists can work with you to offload the affected area and enhance the mechanical function of your feet to reduce progression of the condition.

Our podiatrists can also advise on the best footwear for your foot type. They can modify and also source footwear in cases where irregular foot shape has occurred.

For many arthritis may not be isolated to the lower limb and hence where other areas of the body are affected, our podiatrists can help manage your general foot health where difficulties are experienced in accessing ones feet.
